NEW YEARS EDITION
Happy New Years to All!
I thought this edition of Fragrance Belles-Lettres Magazine be an informative issue. There have truly been SO many beautiful fragrance launches in 2013 that it would take hours for me to review.
However, the essence of this magazine is to review niche and natural scents and that is what will continue to happen.
This special NEW YEARS Edition is to be a bit more fun and touch on my discoveries in December and how one of them has transformed my way of thinking and it comes in a form of a book.
So without further hesitation here are the creme de la creme for this edition.
May NEW YEARS 2014 bring you peace, joy and much love!!!
Your Editor-in-Chief
Felicia M. Hazzard
My first December discovery is called CHRISTMAS TEA by Kusmi Tea Paris This luscious loose tea is a blend of black teas from China.
The main flavor is citrus and spice with everything nice. I substituted coffee and hot chocolate for the CHRISTMAS TEA. I was seeking a variation that was a little more healthier and at the end of the day I could wind down after putting my children to bed.
The taste is simply divine and so smooth and warming to my heart. It comes in two sizes that are represented in in luxurious packaging of a metal tin.
The tin is easily recloseable that allows tea to preserve and keep its flavor.
The citrus and spices in CHRISTMAS TEA is actually orange, almond vanilla and some smoldering spices that is not peppery but simply savory.
If you are seeking a deeper and even more healthier experiences in tea variation, CHRISTMAS TEA is available in a green tea version.
The CHRISTMAS TEA is available in a 4.4 ounce Metal Tin for $16.95 and in the 8.8 ounce Metal Tin for $27.95 and muslin tea bags.
It is still not too late to capture the Holiday Season and welcome in the New Year with CHRISTMAS TEA. This is available at Kusmi Tea Paris year round.

If its not one tea...its another. WOW 2013 is truly the year for outstanding collection of tea.
I thought my discovery was over when I consumed a cup of CHRISTMAS TEA by Kusmi Tea Paris but I discovered a NEW collection of flavored teas by GUERLAIN!
Yes, GUERLAIN. The perfume company that created classics such as Shalimar, Mitsouko, Samsasra!
Well according to the house of Guerlain, they have created with les thes de Constance (Constance Braud) owner and tea expert.
Constance Braud the owner of les thes de Constance Tea Company in Paris, France. She has created a one-of-a-kind tea collection that represents the classic fragrances of Guerlain and exclusive to only them.
This collection includes seven exquisite sounding flavors that will take the classic scents of Shalimar, La Petit Robe, Habit Rouge, Nerolia Bianca, L'Heure Bleue, Orchidee Imperiale and Liu to match the scents we adored wearing.
How wonderful to continue the legacy of these classic scents to be now found in a matching flavored tea!
So you want to purchase it. Right? Well, if you are planning to go to the newly renovated Guerlain flagship store...they will be more than happy to sell a collection or two to you, but other than the flagship store, you cannot get it.
However, I made an inquiry to Guerlain and this is what I was emailed back.
" The Guerlain Boutique Champs-Elysees does not make online sales. However, I can contact Guerlain, Inc 19 East 57th Street New York, NY (212) 931-2400 (Telephone) or (212) 931-2445 (Fax).
I can also contact the boutique by phone at 00 33 1 45 65 52 57 or by email at elysees@guerlain.fr."
So, there are your choices. If you do make the purchase of the GUERLAIN FLAVORED TEA COLLECTION, much sure you make a big thing of it. This is not easily gotten if you are not in Europe such as myself. However, I do plan on making this purchase. It is indeed WORTH IT.
Without further ado, here is what is included in the collection according to www.lesthedeconstance.com
SHALIMAR- "A subtle blend of green and black teas from China and Sri Lanka flavored with vanilla, bergamot, cinnamon, lavendar and natural aromas of cardamom. Shalimar is the FIRST Oriental fragrance capturing this memory."
La PETIT ROBE NOIRE- "A black tea that comes from the high mountain ranges of India, mildly fruity and spicy, just like La Petit Robe. A black tea Noire bursting with character, whose strength is softened by a delicious hint of red berries and raspberries."
HABIT ROUGE- "A black tea from China, the FTGFOP Aiguilles d'Or is a superb tea from the Yannan region. The buds take on a beautiful golden hue. Their strength and aroma suggest leather, honey and the light smoky fragrance of Habit Rouge".
NEROLIA BIANCA- "A white tea from China's Fujian region, Bai Mu Dan, meaning 'white peony' is harvested once a year during springtime. It is made up of buds and the two first leaves of a tea bush, and has notes of citrus, weeping, honey and flowers.
A delicate tea which immerses us in the freshness of Nerolia Bianca. This exceptional tea is hand sorted than dried naturally".
L'HEURE BLEUE- "Taiwanese oolong Dong Ding meaning 'freezing mist of the mountains', makes reference to the Dong Ding mountain where this tea is cultivated. It's lovely rolled leaves bring to mind the delicious aromas of chestnut, honey and white flowers".
ORCHIDEE IMPERIALE- "A Chinese black tea, scented with orchid. The symbol of feminity throughout Asia, the orchid is known for its extraordinary longevity and the star ingredient of Orchidee Imperiale (Guerlain's skincare range).
The addition of the orchid aroma to the black tea base has been made possible by a complex process which demands a perfect mastering of the dose to create right balance, the subtle and perfect marriage between the tea and the flower".
LIU-"A Chinese green tea perfumed with jasmine flowers. Cultivated in the Fujian region, this harvest contains buds of green tea delicately scented with jasmine flowers gathered in July".

My last tea discovery comes in the nick of time for the New Year! I am a very, very seldom consume alcholic beverages. My range is wine and champagne and that is it!
However, I did find a substitute for people like myself for New Years Eve and it is plenty healthy and seems quite delicious.
Red Leaf Tea Company is home to Matcha and Loose Leaf Teas from around the world and it gives me great pleasure to announce the CHAMPAGNE INFUSED TEA. It s a Champagne Infused White Raspberry tea to be exact.
I have not tried CHAMPAGNE INFUSED TEA so I cannot give you my personal review of it. However, this is my plan to try it and hopefully my ever searching for an alternative to champagne on New Years Eve may come to an end. Well, we shall see.
According to Red Leaf Tea Company this is what they have to say about CHAMPAGNE INFUSED TEA.
"Of all the teas, White Tea has the most delicate flavor. Lightly dried and uncured, white tea leaves accept sweetening well. We carefully suffused a light champagne into the herbs and created a new tea blend that truly melds the freshness of safflowers, red raspberry and white wine champagne, while retaining its delicate original taste.
Best enjoyed as an afternoon tea, our Champagne White Raspberry Tea is a gourmet's delight."
This tea can be purchased in two sizes.
Small 0.8 ounce for $4.99
Large 1.6 ounce for $6.99

Lastly, I discovered a wonderful book published by Assouline Publishing. This is a luxury publishing house that gives a new meaning to picture books.
Their spellbounding collection of hardcover books keeps me checking all the time for new arrivals.
This particular NEW book is no exception. I wished I had known about it because it would have been on my Christmas List, but nevertheless it will be a gift to myself.

Question: What fragrance did you wear to usher in the New Year?
I will tell you what I wore but you have to read my next edition and you can get a chance to WIN a bottle for yourself!
I usually write with music in my room. I will try to start mentioning my choice of music for helping me write inspirationally. For this special NEW YEARS EDITION, I listened to The Suite, the theme song for the mega television mini-series, DOWNTON ABBEY.
Happy New Year 2014!!!!
Note: A problem with applying photos for Guerlain Flavored Tea Collection, Champagne Infused Tea and The Luxury Alchemist.
Sorry. I will try again and attach them to the article. I will let you know when that happens.
