The Institute for Art and Olfaction is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Los Angeles, CA. The Institute for Art and Olfaction advances public and artistic engagement with scent. We do this by initiating and supporting arts projects that utilize the medium of scent, by providing accessible and affordable education in our experimental laboratory as well as in partnership with institutions and community groups, and by celebrating excellence in independent and artisan perfumery through our yearly award mechanism, The Art and Olfaction Awards. Through these efforts, we extend the world of scent beyond its traditional boundaries of appreciation and use.

The Art and Olfaction Award is a highly competitive and highly selective award, designed to raise interest and awareness for active independent, artisan and experimental perfumers from all countries. Our hope is that by shining a spotlight on perfumery’s most outstanding creators, we—in turn—will help generate support for independent perfumery, as a whole. FRAGRANCE NEWS & EVENTS

                           THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS

Callings are perfumers worldwide!!! Have you created a fragrance that will take the world by storm? Well if so, why not attempt to win the prestigious Golden Pear Award.

The Art and Olfaction Institute is NOW accepting nominations for THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS of 2015!

This award is created to support independent, artisan and the

experimental perfumer.

If you are a natural/niche/artisan perfumer, now is your time to shine and answer the call of duty by submitting your creative fragrance to a very worthy institution.

The last day for submissions will be on Friday, December 19, 2014.

All submission(s) of fragrances will be accepted that were released to market between January 1 and December 31, 2014.

To submit, your fragrance needs to demonstrate these three categories Artisan, Independent and Experimental. The submission process is a two part component with first an online application form and then a physical package containing vials of the fragrance(s).

THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS celebrates creativity, innovation and excellence in the global and artistic world of perfumery.

A new award will be added in 2015 and that is the Sadakichi Award. This award was created to highlight scent work being done in the context of other creative practices.

THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS is only awarded to just five perfumers a year. So, the process is highly selective, highly competitive and it is designed to raise interest and awareness for active independent artisans from around the world.

THE ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS is made possible by partners, including founding partners LuckyScent/Scent Bar, The Goethe Institut, AutumnSeventy and Frangrantica.

In 2015, they are joined by Esxence Milan, Bern University for Applied Science, CaFleureBon and Fragrance Belles-Lettres Magazine.

If you are ready to submit your artisan fragrance, then Congratulations! You are well on your way. Please send to ART AND OLFACTION AWARDS
c/o The Institute for Art and Olfaction 3023 W 6th Street  Los Angeles, California 90020 USA.

'Redefining the High Life'

The INSTITUTE FOR ART AND OLFACTION will become a reality for fragrance consumers and aficionados in three months.

This institute is garnering a big following in its early stages of development.

IAO is located in Los Angeles and before its launch date in March 2013,  they have planned programs for the fragrance industry's enjoyment and educational values.

In my opinion, this is one of the best institutions at this point that offer a vast range of opportunities for beginners and veterans in the fragrance industry.

It is a much needed place for information and opportunities in the ever-growing populations of fragrance launches and events worldwide.

The IAO will be offering opportunities for grants, workshops, mentorship programs, stocked perfumers laboratory and much more!

I spoke to one of the staff members, Ms. Saskia Wilson-Brown via email to introduce myself and express my joy with the IAO.

Ms. Brown wrote me back via email with such enthusiasm and thanked me for taking the time out to express my gratitude and the fact that I offered some suggestions that would additionally be great for the IAO.

I am truly excited about the IAO and I welcome them with open arms!

If you are already bursting with excitement like myself, guess what? There is an opportunity to meet the IAO.

Yes! There will be a Meet and Greet at the Scent Bar in Los Angeles on Friday, December 14, 2012.

To get more information and bring in the Holiday cheer with the IOA go to www.artandolfaction.com

Cheers!
