March 26, 2015 MILAN— The Institute for Art and Olfaction is pleased to announce the finalists for the second annual Art and Olfaction Awards, to be held at the Goethe-Institut in Los Angeles on April 17, 2015. Two winners will be selected from the categories Artisan and Independent, and one Sadakichi Award for Experimental Scent, a new category added for the 2015 Awards. Each winner will receive The Golden Pear, which has quickly become a prestigious achievement in the perfume world. The finalists were selected by a group of highly qualified judges from the perfume, art and other industries. The Institute for Art and Olfaction is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Los Angeles, CA. The Institute for Art and Olfaction advances public and artistic engagement with scent. We do this by initiating and supporting arts projects that utilize the medium of scent, by providing accessible and affordable education in our experimental laboratory as well as in partnership with institutions and community groups, and by celebrating excellence in independent and artisan perfumery through our yearly award mechanism, The Art and Olfaction Awards. Through these efforts, we extend the world of scent beyond its traditional boundaries of appreciation and use.
The Art and Olfaction Award is a highly competitive and highly selective award, designed to raise interest and awareness for active independent, artisan and experimental perfumers from all countries. Our hope is that by shining a spotlight on perfumery’s most outstanding creators, we—in turn—will help generate support for independent perfumery, as a whole.
