Fragrance Review & Launches

                                   Provanilla
Providence Perfume Co. + Vanilla = Awesome!

I was completely thrilled to received a press release from Providence Perfume Company just a few days ago. To my surprise and utter excitement, Charna Ethier, perfumer and owner of Providence Perfume Company in Providence, Rhode Island released a new fragrance. It was not just any fragrance it is a scent that is near and dear to me.

Charna may be aware of it but the launch of Provanilla that combines the name of Providence Perfume Company + vanilla gives an innovative name and original scent of the world's most popular spice!

Provanilla is not created with just one kind of vanilla but with a full blast of five varieties of vanilla.

I am in vanilla heaven!

Provanilla consist of luscious Mexican vanilla, Madagascar vanilla, coconut pulp, white rose, balsam and myrrh.

Its an all-natural fragrance that I am positively sure will be one of the best-selling scents for Spring 2015 and beyond.

I am already going to acclaim that Provanilla is an award-winning fragrance and will go down in fragrance history as the best vanilla scent of the 21st century.

What I equally love about Charna's approach to perfumery is the most intriquing and lively marketing that goes with every fragrance she creates.

Provanilla is marketed with Pop Art that was hugely popular in the 1950's/1960's era that puts the scent of Provanilla as the center of celebration for women and men to enjoy!

As Charna said it best, "Viva la vanille"!

                                 Unforsaken
The Scent that Warms the Heart

Warning! If you haven't had anything to eat yet, please read the description of Unforsaken Eau de Parfum after you have eaten.

I read the incredible and delicious ingredients of Unforsaken by the house of Kerosene and my stomach started to growl with hunger.

I love to give homage to the house of Kerosene and perfumer and owner, John Pegg because it is the only few niche perfumeries in the Midwest. However, his collection of fragrances speaks for themselves.

John mentioned in his bio that since he lives in a state (Michigan) that has several months of frigid weather, he prefers warm notes such as amber.

I can identify with that being in Chicago but Unforsaken is a gourmand scent that will remind you of cheesecake with a nice glass of Chardonay wine.

The launch of Unforsaken brings in the Spring with an appetite for lush gardens in an open field laced with orange blossoms in the rain.

This scent is warm and sweet enough but it has those deeper notes that makes it compatible for women and men.

John has incredible skills that provides sexy, woody scents to a light and airy fragrance like Unforsaken that keeps you guessing on what is next by the house of Kerosene.

Unforsaken Eau de Parfum is my new spring delight and it seeks my nomination for an award!

Unforsaken Eau de Parfum
tangerine, clementine, coconut, yuzu, orange blossom, jasmine, ginger, tonka beans, benzoin, vanilla and musk.

FRAGRANCE REVIEW

                                                  BRANCH & VINE
                                    A Beautiful Transitional Fragrance

Branch & Vine Botanical Artisan Perfume by Providence Perfume Company launched this latest creation in the summer to represent a "summer garden".

I wore it this summer on several occasions and truly was inspired by this rich manifestation of an elegant summer garden teaming with elaborate heady scented flowers such as jasmine with a laid back response of violent streaming with a citrus mimosa plant.

Recently while on a field trip with my son's school to the nature park last week,  I wore Branch & Vine Botanical Artisan Perfume. This was a much cooler day in the Midwest and I was immersed in nature two ways by being in the nature park and by wearing Branch & Vine.

I loved how the butterflies surrounded me and how I was so in tuned with nature and it was all because I was wearing Branch & Vine Perfume. To me it is a beautiful seasonal transitional fragrance that enhances nature at its very core.

It is remarkable how Providence Perfume Company, owner and nose, Charna Ethier gather the leafy greens in this scent to make it smell just like a vine that I smelled so often growing wildly on my grandmother's stone house.

The blend of accords are done created masterfully with full attention to details that brings a correlation of gardens near and far together.

I knew this was the perfect fragrance to wear at the nature park. The butterflies that flew over me was breathtaking and all of my son's classmates were amazed.

While walking and wearing Branch & Vine Perfume, I was as close to nature as God intended and the birds and other insects knew it.

Branch & Wine Botanical Artisan Perfume is one of Charna's most lavish and impeccable fragrances thus far.

Top Notes: sunflower, green bitter orange
Heart Notes: mimosa, muguet leaf accord, neroli, jasmine sambac
Base Notes: vetiver, fir, violet leaf

FRAGRANCE REVIEW

                           FRAGRANCE MEETS FASHION
                             Mousseline Peche Eau de Toilette
                        A Collaboration of Artists

I may not have mentioned this lately but when I purchase a sample or bottle of perfume or receive it in the mail. I do not immediately wear it. I love to savor and relish in the complete package in which it was given to me.

For me it is not just the scent but the entire presentation it arrives in. I love fragrances that tell a story. What is the perfumer telling me...why was it created and what is the ending of the story-from beginning to the end.

There maybe days or weeks that I try on a fragrance and walk in it, run win it, sit quietly in it or go shopping in it. How did it smell on me, how did it feel on my skin. Well this is where this review begins.

I received a sample of Mousseline Peche Eau de Toilette in the mail sometime ago. I usually received samples from Charna Ethier. However, this time it was different.

Charna was not just sending me a sample to review but she was sending me a chain of events so to speak.

Moussseline Peche Eau de Toilette, is this  summer's blockbuster of scents comes with another person attached to it.

Mr. Jonathan Joseph Peters, a fashion designer and guest of the ever popular, Project Runway, one of my favorite television shows collaborated with a great perfume artist of this century to show us that he is not afraid of a natural fragrance and how her creations of scents speaks to us.

I learned that Jonathan and Charna knew each other for many years and there was definitely a connection years ago that led to a fragrance collaboration that really spoke to me.

Now, how I felt about it. The scent of peach I undestand is an obsession for Charna, so for me whatever Charna says is best...I follow. I sat on my sofa in the living room and sprayed Mousseline Peche on my left hand. I took in this sweet harmony of peach but when I rubbed my hand across the scent, my skin automatically became smoother.

You would think I was talking about a hand lotion. I don't know how Charna does it but it created a fragrance that made my skin softer and the texture took on another layer as if I had skin of a new born.

This to me is speechless. I repeated this method again and the results were exactly the same. No, this was not a game of chance. It is exactly as Charna created, the

"softest, sheerest peach mousseline de soie."

Mousseline Peche Eau de Toilette is a LIMITED EDITION fragrance but to me it is a scent for ALL SEASONS.

The remarkable undertones of harmonious symphonic pleasures gave me an immediate look into what it would have been to be at Ravinia Park of concerts in Chicago's upscale northshore community.

A breathtaking aroma that is mild, charismatic and I truly almost forgot that is a "fashion" fragrance.

This scent made me curious to see who really is Jonathan Joseph Peters.  I went to www.jonathanjosephpeters.com and within the first few minutes of reading, I knew the kind of person Mr. Peters truly is.

He said thank you, "thank you, thank you" three times to insure that he greatly appreciates you taking time out visiting his website. He has ties to Providence, Rhode Island and thanked friends and family because without them, he would not be where he is today.

Jonathan remembered Charna during his successful years as a designer and recognized not only friendship is the key but her phenomenal talent as a perfumer would bring him evermore success.

I totally agree with Jonathan's  decision to collaborate with Charna. They are truly a winning team not just for their sakes but for all of us to enjoy and bask in the glory of a beautiful fragrance that comes from the heart.

"Redefining the High Life through Fragrance"

Best in Fragrance 2012

                                           MOSS GOWN EAU DE PARFUM
The fragrance that brings a unique fairytale to life

First I have to say Happy New Year 2013 The year of 2012 was an amazing embankment on niche and natural fragrances. It was a year of challenges for me in keeping up with new launches and it was a year of total inspiration for me.

I look for the year of 2013 to be an equally amazing year with more unique and inspiration fragrances that are called the world finest.

I am pleased to announce that MOSS GOWN EAU DE PARFUM by Providence Perfume Company receives the title of Fragrance Belles-Lettres Magazine, "FRAGRANCE OF THE YEAR HONOR".

When I received the sample of Moss Gown in the mail from owner and natural perfumer, Charna Ethier, I was simply spellbound by the beautiful advertisement that was enclosed in the magazine. The big glossy card that had the most beautiful model holding a huge bottle of Moss Gown Eau de Parfum was a winner in itself. I sent an email to Charna expressing my delight in the art and craft of such a glorious package  and that I knew the scent had to be that much more appealing.

The inspiration behind Moss Gown Eau de Parfum is taken from a book, "Moss Gown" by Robert H Hooks. Moss Gown is actually a dress that was designed by a witch and Charna creates a fragrance around this story. It beckons the aroma that makes this fairytale so believable and the girl in this story named Candace, like Cinderella finds contemptment in the end.

Moss Gown Eau de Parfum when worn takes you through all the steps that Candace experiences. It is the joy of wearing this fragrance and in the very end Candace reaps the awards in life because of her good heart and blessings bestowed upon her.

Moss Gown setting in the book is in the deep south. Charna brilliantly composed the notes that would comprise of the deep south sometime ago. It gives the warmth of a beautiful day shimmering with colorful flowers and smells of a mild nature. Not quick and abrupt.

I followed the story through Moss Gown Eau de Parfum. I understood the plot and I further understood that to create a natural botanical scent..one must understand the history.

Charna Ethier
Once the entire plot was laid out, Charna molded the characters into being and placed each one in their proper place. Candace's jealous sisters received their just do and Moss Gown Eau de Parfum became an original, a prize and a fragrance that I will always remember Providence Perfume Company creating.

It will tell the story over and over again but with each drop from the bottle, it will give me a new outlook for 2013 and beyond.

Congratulations to Charna Ethier for a job well done!

"Redefining the High Life"

Natural Fragrance Review

                                                             TABAC CITRON
The fragrance for French inspired moments

TABAC CITRON by Providence Perfume Company is a zestful fragrance that inspires those who dream big and seek the best from what life has to offer.

This scent inspired by the French countryside has a smooth and rich aroma that I truly loved. Its not the normal lemony scent that oozes with citrus drool but the lavender note gives it a mild almost milky consistency.

Tabac is French for "tobacco" that gives this fragrance a down to earth feel which to me makes it become a unisex scent.
To wear TABAC CITRON you must be confident and wreak with sophistication.

On several occasions I used my sample of TABAC CITRON it to bed. The next I find the scent settles down to a soft whisper of lemon that is covered in sweet meringue.

TABAC CITRON is a summer scent but you can get away wearing it in the early fall. Its a clean and refreshing scent with light and airy notes that are lavish with with beat of my heart.

Its the fragrance to wear to be your best.

Notes: lemon, provencal lavender, blond tobacco, black spruce

"Redefining the High Life"

Natural Fragrance Review

                                                   HINDU HONEYSUCKLE
The Sweet Smell of an Old-Time Flower & Memory

HINDU HONEYSUCKLE by Providence Perfume Company reminded me of a garden I visited when I was in the seventh grade. I remember it was a rainy day and the field trip to the farm was almost cancelled due to the weather, but it wasn't because the forecast was for a sunny day later on in the afternoon.

My thought was that the firm would be full of cows, sheeps and other typical farm animals but to my surprise it was sprawling acres of colorful and scenic land full of flowers and many scents.

Honestly, I thought I went to heaven but as I strolled through the the dreamy farmland, there was one particular scent that stood out. I smelled it every where I turned...it was not get away from me. I had to find out what it was named.

Quietly, I walked up to one of the assistance and explained to her my experience with this incredible humble and sacred scent.

The lady beamed with a smile and said it is honeysuckle. I repeated the name to myself, honeysuckle, honeysuckle over and over. The honeysuckle plant and I became kindred spirits throughout my visit to this farm.

I was so pleased to encounter HINDU HONEYSUCKLE because of the memories I have with it, but with HINDU HONEYSUCKLE, there is a pleasant overall sweetness that coexist with honeysuckle and that is Indian Jasmine Sambac.

The Indian Jasmine Sambac is grown and distilled in East India and for its decorative purposes, the women in South India dress their hair with this white flower for ceremonial reasons. While its medicinal ways have been known to cure such causes as depression, anger, calm and relax the nervous system. For the use of pleasure its purposes are to arouse the intellect as well as the craving for lust.

HINDU HONEYSUCKLE is a soft sweet aroma of ancient worlds from the Far East that blends cultures and flowers with a sentiment that quietly evolves and stays on the skin for several hours.

Charna Ethier
I love how thoughtful, Charna Ethier was to express and compose a scent that caters to ancient flowers that are so deep in cultures which are still being used in today's society for ancestral dedications.

To me it clearly states that Ms. Ethier understands that not only combining fragrances but staying true to customs in diplomatic ways that provides a peaceful calming affect not only to our minds but for the world.

Notes: Indian Jasmine Sambac, Green Vertivert, Musk, Ambrette, Rose, Coriander, Bergamot and Honeysuckle

                                                      EVA LUNA

                           The Belle of the Ball

This my last review for A Midsummer Night’s Dream-A Scent Event. I must admit, I enjoyed this literary lesson through arts and perfumery. I love the idea of composing reviews that are based on artistic interpretation of literature and I further love fragrances that are composed with the interpretations from  literature and historical fiction.

I am thrilled with this review because it allowed me  to explore and stay on target with the William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy play with the use of the media for the 21st century.

Throughout the play there were many encounters of longing for the love not yet returned therfore leading to Puck to make it right only to find out that his mischevious ways got the best of him.

The moral of the story is that if you are deeply in love with someone and they are deeply in love with you, there is no need for a magic potion to make that happen. It just comes naturally. I find that the flower in this play is symbolic  that represents purity, love and devotion. The flower is what Puck, the fairy uses to sprinkle on the eyelids of those who are to be put under a spell. Its that so-call magic from a flower that is needed to make someone love you but given the chance the love was always there but love also has to be kind and patient.

One of the most romantic aspects of this play is that  it takes place under a shiny moon. The back drop for this story gives such a colorful glimpse into the enchanted forest under a bright and silvery moon.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce a fragrance that is created for this scent event that I find most romantic, vivacious and quite alluring.

The inspiration behind the name of this fragrance is taken from a very popular Spanish televised soap opera in 2010 named, EVA LUNA.

La Luna in Spanish means “the moon”. How most appropriate for such a fragrance to feature colorful and lively notes that represents the colorful and all too many lively personalities of those in the play.

EVA LUNA EAU DE PARFUM is a fragrance that delights the fairies with its array of flowers (the rose, which means love) and its late night dances under the moonlight.

EVA LUNA is composed by perfumer, Charna Ethier who is the owner of Providence Perfume Company in Rhode Island.

This is not my first encounter with fragrances created by Charna but I must say that when I received the package in the mail that included a sample of EVA LUNA and the flyer explaining the motive behind the creation, I was completely blown away with her brilliant interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and how it applies to our lives in this century.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream was written between the years 1590 and 1596, but if I were from another planet and  not familiar with the concept of perfume, I would definitely say that during the time of this play was written EVA LUNA EAU DE PARFUM came right out of this enchanted story and onto the pages of books that we read today about this play. Yet, it comes across with a precious overtone that applies to perfumery that one who is not a student of perfumery would agree that they have smelled it somewhere else, but honestly that cannot be because EVA LUNA is one of a kind.

EVA LUNA is made with all pure ingredients right out of the green luscious woods of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the following.

TOP NOTES: Russian Carrot, Fresh Mint Leaf, French Mimosa, Bois de Rose

Heart Notes: Tuberose, Plumeria, Rose de Mai, Jasmine, Violet Leaf

Base Notes: Oman, Frankincense, Ambrette, Orris

Even though, the many characters in the play have been through some very trying situations, in the end they are come together in celebration. I love a party and no other way to set the stage and get the music started then with EVA LUNA, Belle of the Ball, the fragrance the sums up this play as being romantic, seductive and a zest for life.
