Please come back in February for an issue of intense love for history, romance, perfumers, perfume and of course, chocolate!
It gives me great pleasure to present to you an upcoming category to this newsletter. I will be interviewing perfumers and/or those who have created a company in the perfume industry that is dedicated to the creation of perfumers and/or their perfume shops/houses from the 16th century through the 19th century.
These accomplished individuals will chat with me about their dreams and how they have started a company or created amazing fragrances from inspirations of earlier centuries and how it relates to the perfume industry in todays billion dollar market.
I hope you will welcome these prominent and accomplished industry leaders into your hearts as they reveal to us the true meaning of the 'art of perfumery'.
The two fragrances discussed and described are my personal favorites. Galimard has a huge selection of finely crafted scents that meets the demands and characteristics in all of us.

Jean de Galimard, Lord of Seranon, related to the Count of Thorenc and great friend of Goethe lived in Grasse where in 1747 he founded PARFUMERIE GALIMARD. Jean supplied the court of Louis XV, the King of France with olive oil, pomades and perfumes. Founder of the Corporation of "Glove Makers and Perfumers"(more on the Glove Makers and Perfumers), Jean offered unique formulas that were inspired by the nature of Grasse such as the pure essence of jasmine, rose, lavender, orange flower and tuberose.
Today, the House of Galimard still offers the same high quality and unique ingredients as did Jean over 250 years ago.
GLOVE MAKERS AND PERFUMERS
According to legend, in 1656 Louis XIV (1638-1715) created the Corporation of Master Glovemakers and Perfumers. He granted them monopoly of the perfume distribution from the apothecaries and druggist who monopolized this market.
In 1724, the perfume-glove manufactures of Grasse were officially recognized as guilds and turned their businesses into the exclusive business of perfume making.
Jean de Galimard, Lord of Seranon...What is Seranon?
Seranon is a commune. It is found in the region Provence-Alps-Cote d'Azur in the Alpes-Martimes department in the south of France.
Grasse (in France) is known around the world as the birthplace of traditional perfumery and aromatic scents.
Parfum Garlimard is the oldest perfumery in Grasse. It was founded in 1747 by Jean de Galimard. The House of Galimard has over 250 years of rich heritage to the perfume industry and it still continues today to provide clientele all over the world with the finest in luxury fragrances for men and women. The House of Galimard conducts a fragrance workshop called Le Studio des Fragrances (The Studio of Fragrances). Visitors can create their very own custom perfume with the help of a Nose/Perfumer. He will help you evaluate the different components of a scent which is the Top Note, Middle/Heart Note and the Base Note. After the completion, the visitor will be allowed to take home in a bottle personalized with your name or the name you give your fragrance, and it will be classified and reserved for re-ordering.
This practice has been closed for many, many years to the public but the House of Galimard has opened its doors for the public to view the work of art that has been a household name in the niche market to so many people who appreciate fine fragrances.
