A Tribute to Frederic Malle
Master Perfumer Frederic Malle famed perfumer and owner of EDITIONS DE PARFUMS will be sharing his vast knowledge of perfumery for the world to see in a published book called "De l'Art du Parfum" ("Of the Art of Perfume").
Mr. Malle has now added two more titles to his acclaimed name and that is perfume publisher and fragrance writer. Although this is one of the most exciting features recently in the perfume history other than a fragrance launch. There is no more details about what this book will involve. So, it is safe to say that De l'Art du Parfum will be eventually launched but lets wait until the first of the year and I bet more deserving details into this mystery book will be revealed.
Now that a book will be launched, Mr. Malle has launched a NEW website that has to do with the idea of publishing a book and creating fragrances.
Monsieur Malle came up with this concept by referring himself to a book editor and he works with perfumers who he considers to be "authors". These perfumers create works of art with the freedom he allows them to use when creating a new scent.
Monsieur Malle came up with this concept ten years ago when he introduced the term 'Editeur de Parfums'. It is to liberate perfumers from restraints and remaining in the box, so to spoke about perfumery.
The new website is a beautiful inside look at his salon with sleek metal and wood interior and a vivid punch of red furniture to radiate positive energy. Also, on this site is an elegant array of photo frames hanging endlessly on the wall with photos of the perfumers or should I say, "authors".
You ask who are these perfumers that are given such "freedom of expression" the honor goes to Carlos Benaim, Dominique Ropion, Edmond Roundnitska, Edouard Fletcher, Jean-Claude Ellena, Maurice Roucel, Michel Roudnitska, Olivia Giacobetti, Pierre Bourbon, Ralf Schwieger and Sophia Grojsman.
The house of Editions de Parfums allow perfumers to use the most innovative technologies and the most rare materials in the industry. This is why Editons de Parfums is one of the most successful perfumeries with consumers because the scents contain materials not used often and are the rarest.
Thank goodness for Monsieur Malle who maintains an open-mind and let perfumers explore and bring creations to consumers who appreciate the time and energy put into it.

Frederic Malle has added three new home fragrance candles to his line that are dedicated to a cathedral, a men's den and Holidays by the Mediterrean sea.
The first in this trilogy is NOTRE DAME and Monsieur Malle describes it best in his own words.
"Of my extremely short career as an altar boy in Paris. I only remember the giggles of my friends in the audience and the scent of incense".

The second is CHEZ MONSIEUR dedicated to the men's den.
"One of my assessments when working on scents for the home was that unlike traditional perfumes for people, home fragrances aren't and shouldn't be sexy. The scent, of a men's den is a slight exception for this rule, as one feels, when smelling it, the presence of its proprietor amongst the precious woods, tobacco and books. Spending time in my grandfather's reading room as a child left a particular taste for this type of environment".

The last is MARIUS & JEANETTE a journey of scents from the high seas.
"The summer has a thousand smells and among them, the scent of Pastis is one of my favorites. I was always fond of the cool, minty freshness of this anise drink, as it links senequier (my favorite terrace in St. Tropez) and the Cafe' de Flore, Prevert and Pagnot".

F.H.
FYI Malle is NOT a perfumer at all himself, he is merely a very rich guy whose connections and money allowed him to open this egotistical venture. He never came up with a single perfume himself, he simply could not.
