  Byredo Parfums, best known perfume house by founder and creative director, Ben Gorham made a brilliant and ease of transition from a professional basketball player to having a highly ambitious perfumery in Stockholm (Sweden) where all products are made.

  I love looking at the www.byredo.com website with its neatly skilled black and white format.

  This luxury house is the white-glove of supreme craft and presentation for the niche category of perfumery.

  All debuts of fragrance by Byredo is done with such discretion until its launch. The debut of INFLORESCENCE EAU DE PARFUM is no different.

 This is the launch of my springtime review. Ben Gorham celebrates the beginning of spring with a "wild garden" with a floral scent

"that captures the strength and beauty of is

blossoms"...the peak of perfection.

 Inflorescence Eau de Parfum was made in France and having the luxury of all those florals waving in the air all at once must have conquered ideas for Mr. Gorham to start the spring of 2013 with well scented notes that should be in every garden.

 Byredo Parfums has cornered the global market with its various scents for every appetite and imagination to the fascinating names for the scents created.

Inflorescence Eau de Parfum is composed with some of my favorite flowers such as rose petals, pink freesia, magnolia, lily of the valley and jasmine.

I love the sweetness of jasmine to capture and surround the other scents with amazing harmony.

FRAGRANCE EVENT 2013



                                                             ESXENCE
                                              Brands of Scents for 2013

  Once again this year, ESXENCE, The Scent of Excellence is presenting their elaborate showcase in Milan of some the world's best fragrance houses of niche perfumes. It is always a winner with those in the know and new-comers because it displays established perfumeries and emerging houses of original and unusual scents.

 ESXENCE is a welcoming place for all perfume companies worldwide that seek a high-end and comfortable place to make their mark in the fragrance industry.

 If you are new to this industry and may not have known about this event, it is yearly in the month of March and this year the dates are March 21-24th and if you happen to be in Milan you can still go because on Saturday and Sundays (today and tomorrow depending where you are located time-wise in the world) its 10am-6pm today and on tomorrow, Sunday it is 10am-4pm.

 The list of invited exhibitors is lengthy and that is a good thing. I will provide the website of exhibitors for you to look at on the Fragrantica website (the largest on-line fragrance magazine).

Fragrantica will give you an intimate look at ESXENCE and the list of brands featured this year.

This is a very exciting time for bloggers like myself because when it is all over we still have so much more to report and give you such as behind the scenes and a look into next year's event.

So get ready for a scentsational feast of aromas and gather your own conclusions and hopefully next year we can meet up in Milan!

New Niche Perfumery


 SHAY &  BLUE PERFUMERY OF LONDON
                                  Brings Realization to Perfumery

   

    Former  executive to Chanel and Jo Malone of London brands has established his own fragrance line in London.

    Mr. Dom De Vetta founder of Blue & Shay Perfumery created a fragrance line of six scents that is an inspiration of the great classic perfumes of old.

   This could not have been possible without a  nose and with this being said, Mr. De Vetta found one of the best in the industry. Ms. Julie Masse', a young and pretty lady who created these inspirational classic perfumes using real flowers! These six scents also are composed with fruits and spices.

   SHAY & BLUE PERFUMERY was just established in 2012 and it houses so many products such as candles made from the finest wax and gift collections for men, women and both.

    The blue stripped boxes packaging truly is a representation of elegance, warmth and class.

     Mr. De Vetta spared no expense in creating a world class perfumery.

     This is just an announcement but I plan on writing a review of all six fragrances of Atropa Belladonna, Blood Oranges, Amber Rose, Sicilian Limes, Suffolk Lavender and Almond Cucumber.

                              Sweet Anthem Perfume
                     A Microperfumery launches BIG for the Spring

   This small perfumery is has become a household name in the Seattle area and elsewhere since its establishment in 2007.

   Owner, Meredith Smith not only provides her handcrafted and unique scents for center stage but she also allows other well-known indie brands to become a niche family at Sweet Anthem.

   CYBELE AND SELENE are the BIG anticipations for Spring 2013.

   During the week of March 6-11, Sweet Anthem Perfumes will host a Sweeps Week during the launch.

  Meredith has captured her audience by created scents in small batches with names of scents of people you might now such as Madeline, Anton, Sophie and Elliott just to name a few.

 Cybele is crafted with agarwood, coconut, fig, Immortelle Red Tea and Saffron and Selene is introduced with bay, guava, rose hips, teak and white musk.

 For such rich and exotic ingredients Sweet Anthem perfumes are priced to fit all budgets. It is a wonderful introduction to natural perfumery for someone who has everything or new to indie fragrances.

                                          The Elements Showcase 2013
            The Showdown of the FIFI Nominations &Winner

   In my estimation it is never easy choosing one winner for the honor of the Indie FIFI award.

   This category of fragrances is like no other because of the dreams, desires, creativity and style that goes into it. These natural born people of the arts cannot be compared with any other in the fragrance industry.

  All of the creations are different, stylish, earthy and always good for mankind especially if it is a natural fragrance.

  However, has it goes and the winner is...

  AMBER OUD By Kilian!

  For you that is new to the niche and natural fragrance industry and wondering who is By Kilian well if you have heard of Hennessey cognac then, Mr. Killian Hennessey is the heir to the Hennessey cognac and the entrepreneur behind By Kilian, a niche perfume line.

  AMBER OUD Eau de Parfum is truly a soft and warm scent. I was surprised to feel this presence from the oud but it is apparent that Mr. Hennessey wanted an overdose of vanilla which comes from Madagascar (North Africa).

  The fusion between the amber and vanilla gives its warmth and sensual vibe that is the main inner tensity of Amber Oud.

 Oud is an ancient raw material that is powerful but created with other notes comes out to be a wonderful comprise.

 Vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the world with saffron being the most expensive works so beautifully with any raw material, absolute or essential oil. Vanilla is my ultimate favorite for its versatility, longevity and endurance.

Killian Hennessey

 I encountered AMBER OUD by requesting a sample. I  got more than just the sample but a wonderful note hand written by Mr. Hennessey on solid black note paper and gold ink that was permanent.

 I can understand it being permanent due to the volume of the announcements sent worldwide.

It started with Dear Friend...

I actually smelled the fragrance from the envelope that it came in with the note card. It filled my fingers with this soft warmth that carried far beyond six hours. Incredible degree of range for a vanilla scent and amber.

This is what I truly smelled, the vanilla but with the oud as a back-up and the amber adding a mysterious notion was beautifully planned and created by award-winning perfumer, Calice Becker.

AMBER OUD is a beautiful package from the hand-written note that gave me a sense that Kilian Hennessey felt that AMBER OUD was his best creation yet and that he was very proud of it.

Calice Becker who no stranger to big name fragrances before her collaboration with Killian Hennessey.

AMBER OUD is the inspiration from By Kilian which makes the fourth creation of the Arabian Nights collection.

 It became available as of March 2012.

 Ms. Becker has been an adventurous pioneer in evoking and revolutionalizing the By Kilian brand. Prior to this fabulous colloboration, Calice Becker created fashionable fragrances for Avon, Christian Audigier, Dior, Donna Karan, Estee Lauder just to name a few.

AMBER OUD  for women and men is the 2013 Indie FIFI Award winner that was highlighted in a rich and beautifully planned program at the annual ELEMENTS SHOWCASE on January 28-29, 2013 in New York. The Perfume Exhibition that finds each year more and more press, collaborations and events calamoring for the attention of the ELEMENTS SHOWCASE.

The ELEMENTS SHOWCASE is one of the most highly respected organizations giving niche and natural perfumers and designers a platform to showcase their unique and well-deserve recognition in the fragrance industry.

Best in Fragrance 2012

                       The fragrance that brings a unique fairytale to life

    First I have to say Happy New Year 2013 The year of 2012 was an amazing embankment on niche and natural fragrances. It was a year of challenges for me in keeping up with new launches and it was a year of total inspiration for me.

   I look for the year of 2013 to be an equally amazing year with more unique and inspiration fragrances that are called the world finest.

  I am pleased to announce that MOSS GOWN EAU DE PARFUM by Providence Perfume Company receives the title of Fragrance Belles-Lettres Magazine, "FRAGRANCE OF THE YEAR HONOR".

  When I received the sample of Moss Gown in the mail from owner and natural perfumer, Charna Ethier, I was simply spellbound by the beautiful advertisement that was enclosed in the magazine. The big glossy card that had the most beautiful model holding a huge bottle of Moss Gown Eau de Parfum was a winner in itself. I sent an email to Charna expressing my delight in the art and craft of such a glorious package  and that I knew the scent had to be that much more appealing.

 The inspiration behind Moss Gown Eau de Parfum is taken from a book, "Moss Gown" by Robert H Hooks. Moss Gown is actually a dress that was designed by a witch and Charna creates a fragrance around this story. It beckons the aroma that makes this fairytale so believable and the girl in this story named Candace, like Cinderella finds contemptment in the end.

 Moss Gown Eau de Parfum when worn takes you through all the steps that Candace experiences. It is the joy of wearing this fragrance and in the very end Candace reaps the awards in life because of her good heart and blessings bestowed upon her.

 Moss Gown setting in the book is in the deep south. Charna brilliantly composed the notes that would comprise of the deep south sometime ago. It gives the warmth of a beautiful day shimmering with colorful flowers and smells of a mild nature. Not quick and abrupt.

I followed the story through Moss Gown Eau de Parfum. I understood the plot and I further understood that to create a natural botanical scent..one must understand the history.

Charna Ethier

Once the entire plot was laid out, Charna molded the characters into being and placed each one in their proper place. Candace's jealous sisters received their just do and Moss Gown Eau de Parfum became an original, a prize and a fragrance that I will always remember Providence Perfume Company creating.

It will tell the story over and over again but with each drop from the bottle, it will give me a new outlook for 2013 and beyond.
