Summer Fragrance Feature
Press Release
Jasmine in July
Experience authentic jasmine in Ayala's enticing perfumes
Jasmine is as dewy as dawn itself, as sultry as a humid summer night. It's the first rays of sun through your bedroom window, and as dark as an insomniac's never-ending night. It's the sunny honeybee and at the same time a grey, dusty moth. Jasmine's elusive blossoms correspond to Luna, the moon, yet are able to create a solar energy within a dark, brooding perfume. Jasmine is associated with the sign of Cancer that is in rule most of July, and which is the only zodiac sign that is ruled by the moon. And also, this is partly the time of the year when it is harvested for perfumery.

Clique by Roble'
A Chef's Haute Gourmand Fragrance Recipe
I was invited to New York a year ago by beautypress.com to view an original and unique fragrance designed by a chef. Not just any chef but Celebrity Chef Roble' Ali, owner of the catering company Roble' & Co. in New York and his cult following reality show, Chef Roble' & Co on the cable network Bravo (NBC).
Unfortunately, I could not go to New York for this golden opportunity but I got a second chance to view a creation in perfumery first ever by a chef that displays several mouthwatering menu courses in a fragrance thanks to www.scentbird.com for their generosity in sending me Clique by Roble' in their chic reusable case.
Clique by Roble' is an eau de parfum that highlights ingredients from Chef Roble's signature recipes.
This fragrance can be enjoyed not just by the lucky few whom enjoyed delicious cuisines by Chef Roble' & Co, but Clique by Roble' was designed with Firmenich Senior Perfumer, Frank Voelkl for over a year to capture the perfect balance of scents from his favorite culinary creations according to Chef Roble' for all to enjoy wearing!

Chef Roble' Ali |
Well, in my opinion this "Fragrance Recipe" is the peak of perfection and I give you fair warning, the scent will enhance your taste bud by a 100% capacity!
So, the question is how do you take a cuisine of favorite recipes like a "Chupacabra" cocktail which incorporates a taste of citrus and a "French Toast Crunch Dessert" that is a sensuous dessert into a fragrance?
First it takes a great perfumer like Frank Voelkl and a top chef to brainstorm an innovation that gives a gourmand scent new meaning.
Clique by Roble' tops off with blood orange and a zesty chipotle pepper. The "Fragrance Recipe" is starting with the "Chupacabra" cocktail. It reveals the continuous citrus scent of lime. As with any fragrance, floral scents are added and this scent comes with the heady scent of jasmine for the middle note along with the sweetness of violet, tuberose and iris that captures the aroma of the "French Toast Crunch Dessert".

French Toast Crunch Dessert |
My personal weakness is desserts, so I read the recipe of the "French Toast Crunch Dessert" and fell in love with the ingredients. I thought of it as an upscale cereal with the decadence of spicy cinnamon and the gourmand flavor of honey, chocolate and powdered sugar as the base in this fragrance.
Clique by Roble' is sweet but it is not a sickly sugary scent that would give you a toothache just by smelling it. It is a fragrance for sophisticated women and men who appreciates presentation in a fine fragrance that includes the best of both worlds and that is cuisine and scent.
I truly enjoyed wearing this scent especially in the summer. On me, the scent lasted so much longer than I think it would in cooler temperatures simply because of the notes involved.
For me, it lasted seven hours and the scent stayed true without much diminishing of silliage which means the trail of scent left behind by a perfume.
Gourmands are a very popular fragrance industry because it is based on edible notes such as vanilla, spices, honey and chocolate just to name a few. But because this is not your ordinary gourmand scent-its based on a recipe, a"fragrance recipe" that gives it more of a combination of cocktail and dessert and not simply just a dessert or sweet (edible).
Clique by Roble is an eau de parfum and rightly so. It is considered a more expensive fragrance due to its higher amount of aromatic compound. However, I was shockingly surprised that this fragrance is priced only at $59.50 USD available on Amazon and $53.35 USD on evine.com.
This new and refreshing idea in perfumery is revolutionary because it combines the culinary arts with the art of perfumery. I look for innovation in perfumery that tells a story about the scent. I must say that Clique by Roble' fits the description perfectly.
Clique by Roble' from Brands With Purpose launched in 2014.
Disclosure: Clique by Roble' was given to me as a partnership with www.scentbird.com

Fragrance Art
THE ART OF FRAGRANCE LAYERING
With
L'Artisan Parfumeur
I find it a privilege and a honor to wear a fine fragrance. It is a honor to wear a scent that is constructed with fine ingredients and a constructed with a theme/story behind the making of the scent.
Now, I am speaking of wearing just one fragrance with these sentiments but wearing two fragrances at the same time, now that is 'Art of Fragrance Layering'.
Recently, I was looking for a few perfume samples that I could wear on June 21st, the first day of summer that would represent floral, summery, French and dreamy.
My plastic cubicle is full of perfume samples. So, I thought I play a little game by closing my eyes and reaching into the cubicle for the first sample I could reach.
To my utter surprise, I grab the sample that I really wanted. It is indeed floral, summery, dreamy and it was made in France.
I thought well since my luck was good on the first try, why not grab another sample and see what happens.
I closed my eyes and reached inside the cubicle and this time I grab a sample that was completely different than the first.
This time, the fragrance was more intense, spicy and one of the ingredients is ancient.
Guess what, it was composed by the same French perfumery.
These two fascinating fragrances are from the house of L'Artisan Parfumeur. A perfume house known for their unique and globally recognized scents all created by several Master Perfumers.
The first sample I grabbed from the cubicle was Mimosa Pour Moi Eau de Toilette. This scent is a delicate floral depiction of the mimosa tree and it was composed by Anne Flipo for women (in my estimation).
The description of Mimosa Pour Moi is described by L'Artisan Parfumeur to portray lying under a tree with highly fragrant yellow flowers on the French Riveria.
What I love about this fragrance is its exact parrellel to the mimosa tree with a creamy smell dipped with vanilla and a deepness with blackcurrant bud.
I put on my right and left wrists two drops of Mimosa Pour Moi.
The second sample I grab from the cubicle was AL Oudh Eau de Parfum. This fragrance is spicy and made with Arabian wood which is another word for "Oudh".
AL Oudh Eau de Parfum is rich with a smoky scent softened by orange blossom and rose. The incredible Master Perfumer for AL Oudh Eau de Parfum is Betrand Duchaufour for women and men.
I put on my right and left writes two drops of AL Oudh.
I waited for about three minutes and then I took a sniff.
My first word was, "wow! I complete and beautiful fusion of sweet, woody and floral wrapped together that stayed on my wrists for more than 10 hours.
I had to come up with a name for this great experiement with 'The Art of Fragrance Layering'.
I called it Mimoudh Eau de Parfum. its Mimosa Pour Moi Eau de Toilette + Al Oudh Eau de Parfum. My creation of Mimoudh Eau de Parfum is for women and men.
This was a tremendous moment for me because I usually do not layer my fragrances but having both scents from the same perfumery gives me a profound respect for 'The Art of Fragrance Layering'.
If you are familiar with Jo Malone fragrance collection, that luscious and gorgeous scents are designed to compliment each other. In fact, they highly recommend it!
Did L'Artisan Parfumeur design this master plan of fragrance layering? I am sure they would not mind if you do but because the selection of perfumers are so well skilled and accomplished that it is almost without a doubt each fragrance composed by this perfumery would compliment the other.
The ultimate experience with fragrances is discovering your own way of wearing it. No person's scent will smell the same on another person. So, it is important to try and have fun with it. I bet you have 'The Art of Fragrance Layering' right in your cubicle, too.

Exclusive Interview
Sue Phillips
A Fragrance Industry Leader for the People
I heard the name Sue Phillips several years ago and then one day while watching television and there was Sue! I remember Sue so elegantly dressed and she presented her company, Scenterprises to the host of the show in such an amazing, confident and exciting way.
Over the years of reading about the journey of Scenterprises and how an executive left the corporate world to be with her family takes true determination. Scenterprises is not just a fragrance company, it is the future and I trust Sue will keep ahead of the trends and bring a company into this century that will provide the needs in creativity for the fragrance industry.
This is truly a complete honor for me to have had a EXCLUSIVE interview with Sue who made her mark in the fragrance industry being in charge of product development and branding and designed the first iconic TIFFANY perfume for Tiffany & Company's 150 Anniversary.
It all started when Sue was hired by the Elizabeth Arden company as a training director. Since then, Sue has worked with some of the world's most famous companies such as Chloe, Lagerfeld, Burberry and Trish McEvoy fragrances.
To me, Sue is a leader that we need not just for the fragrance industry but a leader delights in working with her clients which are people like you and me.
How many times have you been able to work closely with an executive of major fragrance corporations who is willing to share her expert knowledge with you in the comfort of her studio. For me, that would not be many but Sue who is the Founder and President of Scenterprises at 'The Scentarium' located in the trendy TRIBECCA area in the city of New York gives the 'Art of Perfumery' a new approach to custom fragrances by a globally recognized leader.
I present to you Sue Phillips!
1. Why did you want to create a perfumery?
Fragrance is such a joy and is one of life’s pleasures! It has always been my dream to offer an intimate personalized “experience” for people who love fragrance, as so many people are tired of the impersonal, over commercialized, transactional aspect of fragrance which they find in stores. We really take into consideration people’s lifestyles and preferences, and then help them to define which fragrance families they like. I was so fortunate when the opportunity arose to open an intimate perfumery in Tribeca in the heart of Manhattan, where I meet with clients on an individual basis to discover their olfacative preferences and then take them on a ‘fragrance journey’ to create their own Bespoke Perfume. It’s fun, intimate, personal and we offer this for men and women, corporate and teambuilding events as well as for Bridal showers and for all occasions.
.
2. Did you come up with the name, Scenterprises before or after you had the idea of becoming an entrepreneur?
This is a great question! After I left Tiffany & Co, to have my child, I always knew that I wanted to continue working, so I established my consulting business under the company name: Susan Phillips Enterprises Ltd., (not a very impressive name!). Then one early morning, the words “Scent” and “Enterprises” started floating around in my head. I combined them and woke up with a jolt and thought, ‘what a great name!’. I immediately wrote it down and realized it combined the aspects of what I wanted do and then formed Scenterprises Inc.
3. Sue, your bio is very impressive and you have worked with some of the most leading beauty companies in the world! So, far what has been most rewarding in terms of starting your own business?
I love having my own business as it gives me the opportunity to meet with such a wide range of people and work on so many aspects of fragrance. I enjoy the freedom to work on different initiatives such as Bespoke Perfumery for individuals, corporate scent branding, as well as teaching at LIM COLLEGE, where I am the Adjunct Professor Fragrance. I also love to write and frequently write articles on fragrance. It’s fun, varied and combines all my passions.
4. How are you using your skills from being a Marketing Director for Lancôme Paris and Vice President of Fragrance Marketing for Tiffany & Co at Scenterprises?
I have been so fortunate to work at amazing companies such as Elizabeth Arden, Lancôme, and Tiffany in corporate positions. I was in involved in training, product development, marketing and advertising. When I began my consulting business I developed brands for Avon, Burberry, Trish McEvoy and others and utilized all those skill sets. Sometimes, it’s difficult to be objective in one’s own business as the entrepreneur is involved in all aspects and sometimes it’s good to get outside reflections and opinions. Ultimately, I am responsible
for all decisions and hope that they are the right ones!
5. Sue, you have a celebrity following such as Jaimie Fox and Katie Holmes for example. What do you think is the reason for the attraction from Hollywood?
I am so grateful that people find us and I think the reason they do is because we offer something totally unique and personal. Our blends are of the highest quality and they come back and repeat order. In addition, people don’t have to wait for two weeks or longer to get their fragrances. We blend it for them immediately.
6. Do you offer custom fragrances for purchase that you have created at Scentarium?
We offer our 18 exquisite blends for sale, online as well as at the perfumery. We also have our new Deluxe Perfume Kit which is also called The Scentarium. This way people can purchase the blends they love and also combine them to create something unique. When they want to reorder, they can send us their ‘formula’ and we can recreate it for them.
7. Sue, you do a lot of public speaking. Do you advise this for entrepreneurs? If so, why?
I really enjoy public speaking (I was a singer and actress in my former career) and I think it’s important to be able to motivate people about the pleasures of fragrance. I also talk about how scent can be used as a ‘scent-branding’ marketing tool as Brands can differentiate themselves by having a signature scent. I speak at a lot of conferences and enjoy connecting to many different types of audiences, which you can see on my Youtube channels:
Sue Phillips and also Scenterprises. Here is one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJO2ubigWMo
8. Lastly, what future plans do you have for Scenterprises?
I am in discussions right now to open additional perfumeries around the country and to eventually have my own SUE PHILLIPS collection of fragrances. This way people have the option to create their own fragrances and to also purchase a fragrance that has been created by a credible fragrance expert. I believe that once the idea of customization finally trends, the next trend will be credible, high quality, authentic fragrances and would be delighted to be able to offer this for everyone.
I am also very interested in creating awareness for Alzheimer’s with fragrance as scent is so connected to memories and emotions.
I would like to thank Sue for taking time out of her busy schedule and talking with me. Sue, I wish you the best in all you do for fragrances.

I would be re-missed not to mention that Anne Buzantian created three remarkable niche fragrances for the perfumery, Puredistance located in the Netherlands. A perfumery known worldwide for establishing perfumes in London, Paris and New York composed by well-known Master perfumers.
These three scents are all ultra feminine and it speaks that voice of Anne in a powerful yet elegant manner.
Puredistance I (2008) This perfume was actually made for herself- "a private masterpiece"
Antonia (2010) "A timeless perfume with a feel of innocence yet feminine and confident".

In additionally, what makes Anne Buzantian not only a great perfumer but also a great person. Here is a statement by Buzantian to the Estee Lauder Edit that puts things in perspective.
"Anne likes s red lipstick because it makes me happy and I like clothes that are feminine and fit well. My fragrances reflect the same things. They are simple and uncomplicated, with a point of difference, but always feminine and beautiful. And they make me happy".Congratulations to Master perfumer, Anne Buzantian!
