The Perfume Review

Posted by Unknown 25 November, 2009 0 comments

The House of Creed has produced some of the finest fragrances that has been created by human hands. I will mention some of my favorites from 2005- 2008. I am sure you may be aware that Creed has created over 200 fragrances so it would be an endless list to review all of them but I am going to review the four most recent fragrances released in 2009 which are Aqua Fiorentina (women), Windsor (men), Sublime Vanille (women) and Les Floralies (women).

Editor's Picks

1. Original Santal (men) 2005

2. Love in White (women) 2005

3. Virgin Island Water (unisex) 2006

4. Feuille Verte (men) 2006

5. Spring Flower (women) 2006

6. Amalfi Flowers (women) 2007

7. Love in Black (women) 2008

Aqua Fiorentina

This exquisite scent is an inspiration from the 15th century of Florence, Italy. Where artists such as da Vinci and Michelangelo sparked an international interest that is legendary and timeless.

Aqua Fiorentina is a quiet and soft scent that melts and blends into the skin immediately with sweet top notes of greengage plum and bergamont orange. I loved the clear and concise flavors that gives a clean and refreshing flavor that is elegant elegant for day time to late afternoon. I wear it first thing in the morning and I can still smell it around 2pm as if I just put it on.

The middle notes of Renaissance roses, pink carnations and Calabrian lemon gives it strength for endurance and it will blend with the office atmosphere and the late afternoon board meeting with the President and CEO. Aqua Fiorentina stands out in the crowd with base notes to give it that added protection with Virgina cedar and Indian sandalwood, if you have to stay at the office for a few more hours than you anticipated.

Aqua Fiorentina 2.5 oz/75 ml spray for $230.00 tax excluded.

Windsor

For the first time ever, CREED offers Windsor that was first created in 1936 for King Edward VIII of England. The inspiration was to provide an exclusive fragrance to the public to be dedicated to King Edward who was the first air pilot to be king and createa scent with ingredients grown in the British Empire.

It comes in a beautiful shatterproof leather wrapped bottle and the scent is made with top of the line, British gin, Jamaican lime and some Scottish highland pine that is fit for the king and the king in your life. I simply love the rich and hardy scent that is not overpowering but majestic and refined. Only the House of CREED would capture and behold the "Duke of Windsor" roses for the middle note. These are roses that he preferred in his own garden. The base notes capture a well learned and traveled man with Bahamian orange, Canadian cedar and a touch of Australian eucalyptus. This fragrances absolutely captivated me and it put my thoughts right in the center of Windsor castle, surrounded by all the beauty and quality that only the atmosphere of a king can provide.

Windsor 1.7 oz/50 ml atomizer $405.00 tax excluded

Sublime Vanille

This is the first fragrance that is in the new CREED collection, called 'Royal Exclusives'. I was delighted to hear this because vanilla is my favorite scent and I cannot have too many vanilla perfumes on my dresser. I love the buttery scent that consist of top notes of vanilla from Tahiti and heady bourbon vanilla from South America.

I love vanilla scents to be consumed in all aspects of vanilla and that is exactly what Sublime Vanille represents. You get more of it with tonka beans in the middle note and just a touch of bergamot orange and a touch of Calabrian lemon and a rare musk just to enhance the flavor. This is truly in my estimation the highlight of scents for the House of Creed in 2009. Vanilla is a universal scent that can be worn summer and winter, so go ahead and spare those dollars because Sublime Vanille is totally worth it.

Sublime Vanille $450.00 tax excluded

Les Floralies

This scent is definitely a treat for the senses. It comes from an inspiration in Japan where there is a tea house on the grounds of the Imperial Palace. This is a limited edition, so don't wait until Les Floralies is sold out!

This scent according to CREED and I totally agree, " evokes calming air and tranquil spirit of the royal, ancient tea ceremony". Sixth generation master perfumer, Oliver Creed and his son enjoyed a cup of Japanese tea while they were in Tokyo. So we get to experience this creation first hand with all the thoughts and emotions that Mr. Creed and his son loved and remembered about Japan.

Chrysanthemum(Japan's royal symbol) and a mixture of leaves of the asian star, Magnolia is the essence of the top notes. It is sweeten with jasmine, Japanese tea and Asian lilac for the sweet tooth in all of us and last but never least, the Bulgarian rose and plum blossom to take the joys of Japan with us where ever we go.

I was just totally happy with this creation and how Mr. Creed and his son put those beautiful thoughts and that delicious cup of Japanese tea in a form of a fragrance is simply pure artwork of geniuses. Take it from me, this is truly an icon and a table conversation for many years to come.

Les Floralies 1.7 oz/50 ml atomizer $300.00 tax excluded.

All of these beautiful fragrances can only be purchased through creedboutique.com

This online boutique is the widest on line experience for authetic CREED goods.

Personal Note: Many thanks to the wonderful and kind people of the House of Creed for their help and worldwide creation of the finest fragrances and especially to Mr. Adam Brecht-Vice President of International Cosmetics and Perfumes.

JAMES HENRY CREED, PERFUMER, 18th Century

Posted by Unknown 13 November, 2009 0 comments

The year 1760 in London, England is where the House of Creed was founded and established. It was James Henry Creed (1710-1798), the brain-child who took his passion for wonderful scents and opened a business in the art of perfumery catering to aristocrats of the English Court.
The House of Creed became a instant favorite with kings and queens and world leaders all across Europe due to James Henry Creed's skills in bringing an idea and fascination with a collection of scents and molding it into a work of art that will hold memories for the clients for years to come.
Mr. Creed created fragrances for many clients but he become especially popular with Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte III and Empress Eugenie of France to Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Austria-Hungry to Queen Christina of Spain.
The year of 1854. under Empress Eugenie, the House of Creed perfumes moved to Paris, France. This move provided even more fame and fortune for Mr. Creed and he only provided personalized fragrances for world leaders and members of aristocractic families that put this perfume company into a category of its own.
Mr. Creed is truly an example of someone who has taken the time to learn and study the art of perfumery in its highest form. Thanks to his supereme skills and enjoyment with perfumery, we can experience those legendary fragrances under the PRIVATE COLLECTION category for ourselves centuries later.
The perfumer, James Henry Creed and the House of Creed have been given the honor and inducted into the FRAGRANCE BELLES-LETTRES HALL OF FAME for Outstanding dedication and exceptional quality in the art of perfumery.
