                   THE LUXURY OF OUD
                                   Floris of London
                                  Honey & Leather

FLORIS LONDON, one of the world's finest niche perfumeries launched two luxurious fragrances for the FLORIS LONDON PRIVATE COLLECTION.

Honey Oud and Leather Oud Eau de Parfum were created EXCLUSIVELY for Harrods of London which debuted on July 30, 2014.

I know you may be wondering why an Oud fragrances for the summer but Honey Oud and Leather Oud provide a soft and appealing scent to the rich and woody scent of Oud.

Oudh or better known as "Agarwood" has become the new trend in fragrances but Oudh is an ancient fragrances and has been around for thousands of years.

Its like pomegranate is so popularly used in skincare and hair care products and yet, this delicious fruit has too been around for thousands of years.

Apparently, FLORIS LONDON find these two fragrances to be very sacred and felt that Harrods of London would do their bidding good.

I find this truly an honor for Harrods of London and I am very sure that Honey Oud and Leather Oud will be received well by fans of FLORIS LONDON from around the world.

In my estimation, it will take some leg work to get your hands on a bottle of Honey Oud or Leather Oud. This will require some networking from family, friends and social network "friends" in the UK to get a bottle or two for you.

I know a few trusted partners that I could contact to do me the honors or perhaps get me a few samples, at least.

What I do look forward to with these two fragrances is the precious aromas of Oud with the unique scents of sweet honey and leather.

Actually, for Honey Oud, FLORIS LONDON refers to it as 'English Honey'. This oriental-woody fragrances is a gourmand accord with hints of vanilla, Oud Oil and sparkles with the scent of rose.

 Fragrance Notes:

 Top Notes: bergamot, English honey
 Heart Notes: Oud, patchouli, rose
Base Notes: amber, labdanum, Oud, musk, vanilla

I personally like the smell of leather. It that rich, soft and shiny material that reminds me of luxuries items such as a leather jacket, car seats and shiny shoes. Now having that combined with Oud should be a momentous occasion for me.

Leather Oud from the fragrance notes provided by FLORIS LONDON, is a deep rooted woody scent with a bright hint of amber. The Oud (Agarwood) used in both scents are certified-sustainable source of oil. Its is a very expensive oil and one of its kind.

  Fragrance Notes:

  Top Notes: bergamot, leather
Heart Notes: carnation, geranium, Oud, patchouli
Base Notes: Oud, vetiver, woody, amber

I find the exclusivity of Honey Oud and Leather Oud sold exclusively at Harrods of London to be quite exciting. What is the story behind this partnership and why? Well, I would like to find out and bring that fragrance story to you.    - Felicia M. Hazzard

P.S. Did I fail to mention the elegant labels on the bottles!

What is Agarwood?
"Agarwood, also known as oud, oodh or agar, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria and Gyrinops trees when they become infected with a type of mould.

Western perfumers may also use Agarwood essential oil under the name "oud" or "oudh".

Note: Photos of HONEY OUD and LEATHER OUD are courtesy of Google Images. Photo of organic Agarwood courtesy of www.ensaroud.com. Information on the description of What is Agarwood comes from www.wikipedia.en.

  Word To The Wise
If you are seeking pure and organic Agarwood "Oud". I would suggest going to www.ensaroud.com
It is the BEST and yes it is costly because it is genuine. Samples are available as long as there is still oil. These are LIMITED due to nature. Also, this website offers valuable educational information on Oud.

FLOWERHEAD EAU DE PARFUM BY BYREDO

Why I Decided To Play The Part

                                                                ACT I

When I was in grade school, I never got a leading role in school plays. I nevered complained because I was considered a good student. When in high school, I decided not to sign up for the drama class because I couldn't see myself pretending to kiss a boy simply to convey "realism" to the student body.

Its wasn't until I started writing full-time that I could now express myself through writing and that pictures coincided with magazines could I now have the leading role in performing through the Art of Perfumery.

One of my favorite perfumeries is Byredo based in Sweden and owned by Mr. Ben Gorham, a genius and one of the most creative perfumers in the equator. He composed FLOWERHEAD Eau de Parfum in collaborations with perfumers Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette.

It is this fragrance that now has prompted me to get back into the "dress rehearsal" of acting out the part and not just writing about it.

It took Mr. Gorham six years to complete FLOWERHEAD according to the May 2014 issue of the VOGUE Magazine archive edition. The inspiration was taken from Gorham's cousin's wedding in Jaipur, India.

All great scenes in a movie and stage play start with a vision. I immediately thought about all the colorful and vibrate flowers that could compose such an inspiration to come up with a scent and name for such a dedication.
Further into rehearsing my role, I learned from www.byredo.com "in the traditional Indian wedding flower heads are strung together in giant leis, including Jaimala garlands which are exchanged between bride and groom as a token of mutual respect".

Later, I learned that the couple is showered with petals for spiritual protection and a wedding canopy is covered with exotic blooms that would give any ceremony of this magnitude a relenting oasis of unbelievable vibrant hues and a heavily scented atmosphere.

After reading this, I immediately wanted to see what a flower head would look like. I thought of scents of creamy jasmine and multitudes of tuberoses clashing ever so lightly to the tune of cheers and standing ovations.
On www.byredo.com gives a breathtaking photo of a flower head that brings life to FLOWERHEAD Eau de Parfum. It is now that I needed to try on my costume. So, I started searching for Indian flowers, headwreaths that would resemble a traditional flower head along with a beautiful fuschia colored gown to compliment the vast arena of onlookers in wedding attire.

To put on a great performance, one must not rush the particulars that go into making a great performance...a masterpiece.

My philosophy when writing about a perfume is the story that goes behind the scent. What led the perfumer to compose this scent? What is the vision?

The leading characters in this role is the jasmine sambac, tuberose, rose petals that will provide the heart/middle notes in this perfomance. Next, with the headliners you get angelica seeds, sicilian lemon and lingonberry and finally the encore presentation gets rave reviews with amber and suede.

My quest to bring FLOWERHEAD Eau de Parfum to life for me has given me a new opportunity to transform my words with photos of me describing the scent.

Now, it is by choice that I chose, FLOWERHEAD Eau de Parfum to start with my audition.
