FOREST WALK
My walk in the crisp sun
I was introduced to FOREST WALK perfume at the First Annual Artisan Fragrance Salon in San Francisco in June. I sniffed this fragrance in a very nice looking glass bottle that was overwhelming warm, woody and dewy.
My mind told me (my mind speaks to me all the time) at first to do the review as soon as I got home. But I decided later on to wait on that because I wanted to get in the exact mood for this type of scent.
Its inspiration comes from the summer scents while taking a walk in the woods. So, this is exactly what I wanted to do.
This morning in the Midwest was quite cool and with a slight foggy haze. After taking my children to school, I walked through a nearby forest of green luscious trees and manicure bushes in all sorts of reds and orange hues.
I was wearing a sample of FOREST WALK and a gust of wind blew rather strongly. The scents of fir absolute, sandalwood and oakwood absolute blew under my nose and surrounded with me with inner peace in a world that I felt was all my own. A few minutes later a scent that I had not been known to me continue its sillage all the way to my walk home.
I've encountered the other scents created in this fragrance but it was the Black hemlock that was new to me.
When I got home I wanted to know more about Black hemlock absolute. According to the well respected blog, White Lotus Aromatics (www.whitelotusblog.com) "Black Hemlock Spruce Absolute is a dark green very viscous liquid displaying an immensely rich, suave, fruity, coniferous bouquet with a sweet balsamic woody undertone of good tenacity".
Its use is to generate forest notes, fruit accords, sacred perfumes, fougere, chypre and high class floral.
Laurie Erickson, perfumer and owner of Sonoma Scent Studio understands the quality of an woodsy scent. This scent was not created just to give a mere glimpse into the woods...peering inside to get a hint of what it could possibly represent. No, Ms. Erickson immersed FOREST WALK into an actual adventure of being in the depth of the forest and experiencing with nature has to offer in its entirety.
FOREST WALK is a true replication of what I experienced this morning. It was dewy, serene, spiritual, magical, beautiful and colorfully scented.
Fragrance Notes: Black hemlock absolute, fir absolute, Western red cedar, natural oakwood absolute, aged Indian Patchouli, galbanum resin, jasmine sambac absolute, violet, olibanum, labdanum absolute, New caledonia sandalwood, orris, benzoin, earthy notes.

What a delicious review and so timely with the shift in weather. This fragrance sounds heavenly! I've never heard of a natural oakwood absolute, is it oakmoss absolute perhaps? If not, can you expand on it a bit? Thank you.
