NATURAL FRAGRANCE PERFUME EVENT
PRIMORDIAL SCENTS is a project created and hosted online by Monica Skye Miller, editor of the Perfume Pharmer blog.
On this particular project one of the chemical elements that have been created by various perfumers is WATER.
This is rather a difficult craft to engage. I have smelled a few scents that described itself as a "water" scent. This was many years ago and it left me so dissatisfied that the only description I could conjure up was "plastic". Not my ideal of glistening waters.
I was sent a package of samples by Monica for review. The first of the PRIMORDIAL SCENTS project comes from a natural perfumer that I respect.
The scent is called LYLLI BLEU EAU DE PARFUM by The Scented Djinn and the perfumer is Justine Crane.
This was given to me in a sample form and when I placed it on my wrist, the first word that came to mind was 'refreshing'. I felt like I was surrounded by clean water untouched by human hands that glides down a stream dripping in drops of a clear oasis.
I am always intrigued by scents that are wrapped in Blue Lotus such as LYLLI BLEU. This note is not used too often, so when I find a scent that uses it, I'm quite pleased.
LYLLI BLEU reminds me of when water was actually very blue. I cannot remember when the last time I have seen that kind of vision.
The name is most befitting this scent with its light and even aroma that is pretty and simply surrounds me in what nature is intended to be.
I applied it to my wrist in the evening after a nice long shower. The next morning around 7:00am I could still smell LYLLI BLEU on my wrist. By that time, the Santal on my skin rose with a tremendous blend.
LYLLI BLEU is the first fragrance representing water that I find is exactly the water element that the creator blesses us with.
Notes: Blue Lotus, Mitti, Santal, Neroli
