     The Officina Profumo Farmaceuticadi Santa Maria Novella (The Official Perfumery Pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella) is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world. The house of SMN was established in 1612 in Florence, Italy.
    SMN is not your ordinary perfumery established by one or two people who have chosen to create perfume as a career, but instead the SMN is based on recipes by the Dominican friars of Florence. The fragrances and body products of SMN were used with herbs from the monastery gardens since the 13th century. The Dominican friars were in charge of the perfumery until the late 19th century and then it became a private business.
